Well, I'm 29 days in! Almost halfway there!!! I feel a million times better. I can even feel a difference in the way that I walk; it's so much easier on my feet and knees. Today I weighed in at 162lbs. That's a total of 23lbs in weight loss, and 4lbs from last week. It seems like my weight loss has leveled out to a nice 4lbs per week. I'm totally okay with that!! I also did measurements this week:
(Loss since two weeks ago, total inches lost)
Arms 11 1/4 inches (-1/4 -1/2)
Bust 41inches (-1,-3)
Underbust 32 1/2inches (-3 1/2, 5 1/2)
Gut 40 inches (-2,-4)
Waiste 38 inches (-3,-5)
Thighs 22 inches (-1,-4)
Calves 14 inches (-1/2, -1)
That's a total of 24 inches total; 11 1/4 of those from the past two weeks. (If I did my math right...I'm not terribly great at math).
I don't think that my photos really show the difference like the numbers do from the last two weeks, but I'm going to post them anyways. My mom says you can tell a difference way more in person that you can from the photos. First, a reminder of what day 1 looks like :)
Now here is a comparison from the past two weeks
I see a huge difference in my face, but we will do close ups on my face when I actually decide to not look so messy. Speaking of messy...it seems like in all of my photos I have really messy hair (this is normal and I apologize!)
This week I hit a couple of huge milestones! I got past the 20lb weight loss mark!! I also bought a size medium yoga capris. 4 weeks ago I would have needed to buy an XL! I also put on and zipped up my size 10 Levi's (started as a 16). I feel so good!
Over the weekend I started using Keith as my "Guinea pig" with vegan recipes (I think he really enjoys this). I'm testing out some vegan recipes to see if they are good enough for me to make when I'm finished fasting. They smell really good!
I made him this red quinoa stuffed bell pepper with quacamole :) I really enjoyed smelling this while I sipped my juice. (I actually get enough satisfaction from good smells. I know....I'm weird)
Keith has been eating a mostly vegan diet (drinking tons of juice with me) and has lost about 9lbs. He really doesn't need to lose weight, but he's also feeling great. His skin has cleared up and looks and feels soft.
I plan to maintain a vegan diet once my 60 days is complete. I've just found, through my research, that it's the healthiest way of life. Sorry I haven't posted all my research findings yet! I had a really busy weeks studying for my phlebotomy exam. I'm also taking summer college courses, so I'm pooped.
After my fast I will still be juicing. I'll be eating lots if nuts as snacks during the day. I've never been a salad person, but I'm going to find some salad recipes that I enjoy. Then I'll have 1 cooked meal for dinner. The healthiest diet should be 51% or more raw (uncooked) food.
On Saturday I got the biggest sweet tooth imaginable. It was terrible. Keith and I went and found Popsicle makers and made some all fruit Popsicles. Okay, so it wasn't in juice form, but I didn't add anything other than fruit! I'm not counting this as cheating! They were super tasty and helped with the sweet tooth. It felt kind of strange to munch on the ice though (after not chewing for 27 days).
Again this week, I went to Trader Joes and the lovely Plano Farmer's Market for my groceries. I spend a little over $60/ week on fruit and veggies. Every single time I check out at Trader Joes they ask, "is it salad night?" I've never know anyone to spend this much money on salad night! Then they get to look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them about my fast. This tickles me pink.
I get a lot of "you're crazy" reactions when I tell people what I'm doing. Then I tell them the success I've had, and suddenly I'm not so crazy after all. Maybe I am crazy, but I love it. I'm having so much fun. It's nice to commit to something and actually stick to it.
I've gotten a lot of feedback that my story and what I'm doing is inspirational. I want you all to know that that is more rewarding to me than anything else. Of course I'm so happy with the changes that I've made, but to know that I've inspired someone who was struggling the same way I was is far more rewarding. You all drive me towards success. Every temptation I get I think, "what would my followers think?" So, thank you for holding me accountable, and pushing me to move forward.
Thanks for all of your love and support!

Congrats, Haley, on your successes. I can see In the photos the inches lost in your middle and from your thighs. The Popsicle looks yummy. It's basically just frozen juice or a frozen smoothie. Great blog! Will tune in again next week.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! The Popsicle was pretty yummy :)
DeleteI look forward to this every week now! YOU ARE AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad you look forward to my blog :)
DeleteYou are so honest and real. We can all really relate to you. And you provide lots of useful info. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI try to be as honest as possible. I've never been one to put myself out there, and initially, this was really difficult for me. Putting my before photos and weight online where anyone can see then was one of the most difficult parts of all of this, but it was worth it.
DeleteAre you mixing protein into your shakes?
ReplyDeleteI don't use a protein powder. It's really not necessary. Adding chia seeds or spirulina to any juice or smoothie give you more than enough protein.
DeleteI only want to use foods that are very close to their natural state. That would exclude any chemically modified protein powders.
DeleteI love your popsicle idea plus you look incredible!
